Italy - Day 2, June 28th, 2009

I know there has been a long hiatus in blog posts...not for lack of desire but this summer got incredibly busy and here we are, almost at the end of August!

So without further delay, Italy, Day 2!! (June 28th)

Kristin let me sleep in on Sunday until about 11 am. By the time we both got our act together, I think it was around 1 pm by the time we left her apartment. We decided to get out of Milan for a leisurely late lunch in the country.

Kristin and Brett's car, and our means of tranportation for the week

Watching Kristin back the car out of the garage was always fun!

We only had to drive about 30 minutes before we found a great little place in the country to explore and eat lunch.

The restaurant we dined at had a great patio/terrace that had a lovely view of the rolling hills surrounding us. Ah, belissimo!

The view!

My favorite Italian salad! Tomatos, mozzerella, basil and balsamic vinaigrette

A lunch to remember!

A view of the restaurant from a little further up the hill.

After lunch we walked up the hill and explored a little. What an awesome view!

We got back in the car and drove to Lake Como after lunch

Driving in Italy can be a bit scary, but Kristin handled it with ease!

Approaching Lake Como - it was gorgeous!

There was a little festival going on

The lake!

We treated ourselves to some gelato by the lake before heading back to Milan to meet Brett and watch the US play Brazil in the championship match of the Federation Cup that night. The first half was awesome, since the US scored first and we went into half-time 2-0. The second half went down hill quickly, and we lost the game 3-2. We still had lots of fun watching soccer in Italy!

The bartender made a special watermelon mojito, which was actually pretty tasty!
